A jewel-toned tropical hummingbird takes flight, ready to zoom in for some tasty nectar from the nearest hibiscus. I adore hummingbirds - I think they're one of the coolest critters on the planet. I always set up feeders in the summer and can watch these guys and their aerial acrobatics for hours. I also enjoy spotting new tropical species like this one on vacations in Costa Rica.
